Leesburg Fire Department
Fire Image 2
The Leesburg Fire Department has four stations to protect more than 20,000 residents as well as commercial, professional and industrial properties spread across 40 square miles in northwest Lake County.
Chief Bowman is a 29 year veteran of the Fire Service. He holds a Masters Degree in Public Administration from Troy State University. He is a graduate of the Executive Fire Officer Program at the National Fire Academy. He holds the designation of Chief Fire Officer from the Commission on Professional Credentialing. Chief Bowman is also the City’s Emergency Management Director and has past experience of handling four hurricanes as the Emergency Management Director in another municipality.

The city maintains an ISO 2 Public Protection Classification, which ranks the city among the top one percent of fire departments across the country. That ISO designation also helps to keep insurance costs low for property owners.

The fire department responds to more than 7,000 calls a year. Firefighters also provide fire safety instruction to the public and several local schools.

The Leesburg Fire Department has 65 staff members, serving in three battalions on 24-hour shifts. Each shift has a battalion chief, five lieutenants, six driver-engineers and nine firefighters.
